CVE-2018-3822
30.03.2018, 20:29
X-Pack Security versions 6.2.0, 6.2.1, and 6.2.2 are vulnerable to a user impersonation attack via incorrect XML canonicalization and DOM traversal. An attacker might have been able to impersonate a legitimate user if the SAML Identity Provider allows for self registration with arbitrary identifiers and the attacker can register an account which an identifier that shares a suffix with a legitimate account. Both of those conditions must be true in order to exploit this flaw.

Common Weakness Enumeration
- CWE-287 - Improper AuthenticationWhen an actor claims to have a given identity, the software does not prove or insufficiently proves that the claim is correct.
- CWE-22 - Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')The software uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the software does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory.
